Ray Harryhausen Legendary Science Fiction Series 5-Pack (DVD)
Often called the greatest stop-motion animator of all time, Ray Harryhausen was responsible for many classics of horror science fiction animation and science fiction, creating terrifying, fantastical creatures that arguably have yet to be rivalled by today's technology. This collection features five of Harryhausen's most loved sci-fi classics, which paved the way for generations of animators to come. First, a group of UN astronauts are convinced that they are soon to be the first to tread on the moon's surface in THE FIRST MEN IN THE MOON. That is, until they meet the mysterious Arnold Bedford (Edward Judd), who tells them of his travels thence years ago. A Venusian alien being carried as cargo by a military plane survives a crash in 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH. Col. Calder must summon the Italian army to help fight the creature off, but it seems increasingly evident that human weapons are no match for this monster. EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS is a cult classic that pits alien drones against trigger-happy humans. When peaceable aliens arrive at an army base seeking aid for their troubled planet, the Americans respond by attacking, beginning a war that scientist Russ Marvin undertakes to stop--before its too late. Then, five escapees from a Confederate prison find themselves on a MYSTERIOUS ISLAND, populated by all manner of strange inhabitants, in this adventure based on the classic Jules Verne novel. Finally, IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA is a spectacular depiction of a giant octopus who has been disturbed from the depths by an H-bomb explosion. It counts among its victims a fishing trawler, a family on an outing, science fiction animation and even the Golden Gate Bridge! Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. Titan A.E. (DVD)

Titan A.E. (DVD)
Spectacular animation, combining two- science fiction animation and three-dimensional techniques with stunning special effects, is TITAN A.E.'s mark of distinction. Directors Don Bluth science fiction animation and Gary Goldman (ANASTASIA) make their first foray into science fiction with this film, which is the first U.S.-produced animated science fiction film in more than 20 years. The story is a classic bildungsroman, following the journey of Cale, a young man who holds the destiny of humankind in his hand--literally. Opening with the stunning destruction of earth as seen from space, the film launches the audience into a seamlessly imagined universe in which the alien Drej have turned humans into homeless emigres, searching desperately for a new world. Cale (voiced by Matt Damon) is haunted by the legacy of his father, who abandoned him but created the spaceship Titan, which holds the key to the new home of humankind. With the plan for Titan imprinted in his hand, Cale is swept from a life of lonely drudgery devoid of female companionship into the colorful crew of mysterious Captain Korso (voiced by Bill Pullman). On the Valkyrie ship, Cale enjoys Korso's crew, including the kind, beautiful, science fiction animation and expert woman pilot Akima (voiced by Drew Barrymore) along with a strange but fascinating band of aliens.
